Independence Starts at the Door

The Open Sesame Model 133 makes entering and exiting your home safer and easier. This professionally installed system automates nearly any free-swinging door — including front doors, bathroom doors, and apartment entries — to support users with limited mobility.

How It Works

This system includes an electric strike to unlock the door, then automatically opens, holds, and closes it. It uses low-voltage power, which means most installations take less than two hours and don’t require an electrician.

What’s Included

  • Remote Control:
Comes standard with a wireless transmitter that can be mounted on a wheelchair or used by hand.

  • Low Voltage Wiring Kit:
    Makes installation simple and safe.

  • Electric Strike:
Unlocks the door with the push of a button — no key needed.

Mounting Options for Any Door

  • Door Mount: For inward-opening doors

  • Lintel Mount: For outward-opening doors

  • Parallel Arm Mount: For recessed or storm door setups

For outward opening doors that require a wider opening angle or have a recess. Also used for storm door and screen door applications.

Open Sesame Door Opener Residential Low Voltage Wiring

Low Voltage, Safe Installation

No hardwiring required. Simply plug the unit into a standard 115V outlet using the included transformer. Then connect the door opener to a wall-mounted junction box.

Electric Strike Explained

When activated, the electric strike releases the door latch — similar to “buzzing in” someone at an apartment building — allowing the opener to swing the door open automatically.

Specifications
  • The door operator is electromechanical, providing both powered opening and powered closing.

  • It does not interfere with manual operation unless actively opening, holding, or closing the door. This allows the door to operate freely by hand when needed.

  • The unit includes a built-in battery backup, enabling continued operation during a power outage.

  • It operates on 24 VAC low-voltage wiring and comes with a 20 VA transformer that connects to standard 115 VAC, 60 Hz service.

  • Installation must follow the manufacturer’s drawings and instructions provided with each unit.

  • The system can be mounted on the door or lintel and allows for door opening angles up to 120 degrees.

  • An adjustable hold-open feature lets you set how long the door remains open — anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds.

  • If the door encounters an obstruction during operation, the system will automatically stop and disengage to avoid applying further force.
